Class Is In Session!
The rug is the classroom. Bears, bunnies, and dinosaurs sit in a row. A scrap-paper chalkboard (or a real tiny one) stands at the front, and you are the visiting teacher for a lesson that lasts as long as the laughs.
Attendance is a roll call of silly names. Recess is a parade around the coffee table. The homework is one drawing that goes on the fridge if you want it to.
Open the Classroom
- Pick a floor that already has toys nearby — living room, bedroom, or a hallway that loves a line of students.
- Sit the class in a gentle row, facing the board, with space to walk between them.
- A shoebox or a stack of books makes a teacher desk. A paper apple is optional glory.
- Write Stuffed Animal School! on the board if you want a marquee. Chalk or crayon is plenty.
- Every session gets one short lesson and one recess. Keep the favorite student in the front row next time.
Today’s Lessons
- Roll Call — each toy gets a grand name and a cheer. The whole class answers together.
- Story Hour — one picture book held so the front row can “see.” A voice for each character is welcome.
- Art — scrap paper on the floor, one scribble per student (you hold the crayon). Tape the favorite to the board.
- Inventor’s Class — one extra subject that can look absolutely ridiculous. It still has to fit on the rug, which makes the victory even sweeter.
School Life
- Everyone plays from the same side of the row, so the class stays a classroom and the walkway stays a walkway.
- One lesson at a time — give each subject its moment of glory.
- If a student tips into a nap, that’s quiet time. Laugh softly, then sit them up even prouder.
