Start to Shine With Flashlight Theatre!

Set up a lamp or a flashlight, a handful of toys, and let the shadows inspire the story. Discover which shapes, moves, and wild inventions actually come alive on the wall!

Where the Wall Becomes the Stage

Aim your light at the wall, let the toys take a bow, and the room becomes your theatre!

House Lights Setup

  • Choose a stage wall — a hallway, a bedroom, or a living-room blank canvas.
  • Give each storyteller the same flashlight, or one shared lamp, so every show starts fair.
  • Each round, build a brand-new cast: a still dinosaur, a floating star on a stick, or a wild invention that looks too small to fill the wall — then watch it grow.
  • Add bonus events: moving-story points, two-shadow duets, or a “the moon comes back around” miracle bonus.

Tonight’s Events

  • Still Portrait — freeze a toy’s shadow so the whole crew can name it. Clearest, boldest shape wins the oohs.
  • Moving Story — converse with the characters, while the shadows walk, fly, or dance.
  • Chorus Line — two toys share the light. If both shadows stay on the wall together, that’s a standing ovation.
  • The Inventor’s Cup — one extra prop that can look absolutely ridiculous.

Front Row Ettiquette

  • Everyone watches from the glow of the lamp, facing the wall together.
  • One storyteller at a time — give each shadow its moment of glory.
  • If a shadow slips off the wall, that’s an intermission. Laugh loudly, then try again.
