Skee-Ball Boxes!

Admit one. Lane is open. Three boxes in a row, a sock rolled tight as a ball, tape for the start. Soft roll along the floor. The ticket gets a stamp when the numbers add up.

The arcade ticket

Near box โ€” 10. Sit it just past the tape, mouth open toward the roller.

Middle box โ€” 20. A step farther. A little smaller if you have one.

Far box โ€” 50. Smallest mouth, farthest away. The prize lane.

Write 10 / 20 / 50 on paper and tape the numbers on the fronts. Two tape lines on the floor: start, and a gentle gutter so the sock stays in the lane.

A turn

Three rolls. Kneel or sit at the start line. Underhand, sock stays on the floor โ€” a roll, a glide. Count the box it settles in. Miss the row and the ticket stays blank for that roll.

Add the three numbers. Pass the sock. Keep a running total on the ticket.

House jackpots

Fifty frenzy โ€” first player to land the far box twice in one visit gets a bonus 50.

Even steven โ€” end on a multiple of 10 and the crew draws a star on your ticket.

Lane swap โ€” after six tickets, scoot every box one spot farther. The 10 becomes the new 20. The far box becomes legendary.

Play to 150, or play until the tickets are a little constellation. Clip the winner to the fridge if the gazette still has room.
