Kubb is a game of strategy, accuracy, and tactical defense. Teams take turns throwing their batons to knock down the opponent’s pieces. To win, a team must knock down all opposing kubbs and then successfully knock over the King in a single turn.
๐ Basic Gameplay & Rules
Kubb is part strategy, part precision, part โwaitโฆ what just happened?โ Teams take turns tossing batons to knock down the other teamโs wooden blocks โ and the board changes every single round. Hereโs the lively breakdown:
The Turn Sequence
You get 6 batons each turn. Throw them underhand, endโoverโend, and always from behind your baseline. Itโs like bowling, but with more drama and fewer shoes.
The Field Kubbs Twist
Knocking over your opponentโs baseline kubbs doesnโt remove them โ it activates them. On your next turn, you must:
- Pick up your fallen kubbs
- Toss them across the field
- Let the other team stand them up wherever they land
These become field kubbs, turning the battlefield into a shifting puzzle every round.
The KnockโDown Rule
Order matters! You must clear all kubbs on your side โ both baseline and field kubbs โ before youโre allowed to attack the opponentโs baseline kubbs. If thereโs a block standing on your half, itโs your problem first.
The King (The Final Boss)
Once every opposing kubb is toppled, you can finally aim for the King. But beware: Hit the King too early, and your team instantly loses. Hit the King after clearing everything, and you win in glorious fashion.
