Welcome to Sunday Radio Games!
All you need is a radio (or a station playing on a phone), a pencil, and a crew ready to shout the title. Hidden inside this simple setup is a thrilling mission: discover which ears, guesses, and wild inventions actually keep up with a live station!
Where the Dial Becomes the Board
Pick a station, let the DJ surprise you, and the living room becomes your studio!
Studio Setup
- Choose a station — kitchen radio, car speakers, or a stream on a speaker. Live radio is the whole trick: nobody knows the next song.
- Give each player a scrap of paper, or keep one shared scorepad so every round starts fair.
- Set the volume so the music fills the room and the whole crew can still talk.
- Each round, try a brand-new game: a speedy name-that-tune, a floating word-hunt, or a wild invention that looks too silly to score — then let the station prove it.
- Every game gets three songs. Keep the favorite one.
- Add bonus booths if you want: weather-dance points, DJ-voice impressions, or a “the chorus comes back around” singalong bonus.
Station Events
- Name That Tune — first voice to say the song title (or the artist) wins the tally. A smile counts as a close second.
- Word Hunt — pick a word before the song (love, night, Sunday, rain). Every time it shows up, the crew taps the table. Highest happy taps wins.
- Weather Dance — when the forecast comes on, everybody stands and moves until the ads return. Longest beautiful wiggle wins a cheer.
- The Inventor’s Hour — one extra game that can look absolutely ridiculous. It still has to use the live station, which makes the victory even sweeter.
On-Air Life
- Everyone listens together, facing the radio like a tiny stage.
- One guess at a time — give each ear its moment of glory.
- If a commercial break takes the song away, that’s an intermission. Laugh loudly, then start the next game on the next song.
- In the car, play with eyes on the road ahead of you and voices in the cabin. The station rides along.
The Mini Engineering Challenge
After the last jingle, grab the day’s favorite game — or favorite station — and change just one tiny thing: a harder word, a slower guess, or a pencil for silent points. Play it through three more songs. If it feels even more itself, congratulations: you just did real engineering disguised as play.
The winning game earns a spot in your Family Champions Museum, where legendary Sunday DJs live forever.
